Police are responding to fatal crash near Walgett

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's far north last night.

About 11pm (Saturday 13 February 2021), emergency services were called to Carinda Road near Billybingbone Road, Carinda, about 86km south-west of Walgett, after reports a utility had crashed into a tree and rolled.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, died at the scene.

Officers from Central North Police District established a crime scene, which has been examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
