Police Arrest Five After Southbank Affray

Melbourne Divisional Response Unit detectives have arrested five men in relation to an alleged serious affray at a Southbank licensed premises late last year.

It's alleged a brawl took place overnight on 15 November at the premises on Southbank Boulevard.

It's alleged four males from NSW were assaulted in a bathroom by two males, before the altercation continued into another room.

All those allegedly involved had left the area once police arrived.

The four males attended a hospital hours later.

A 28-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the three other victims aged 24, 26 and 32 sustained minor injuries.

Detectives from Melbourne's Divisional Response Unit have been investigating the alleged incident, which was filmed and circulated on social media.

This resulted in eight search warrants being executed on Wednesday at three properties in Point Cook, two in Altona North and one each in Altona Meadows, Hoppers Crossing and Laverton.

Five men were arrested, including:

  • A 29-year-old man from Altona Meadows
  • A 22-year-old man from Point Cook
  • An 18-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing
  • Two 18-year-old men from Altona North

They were all charged with violent disorder and affray, and were bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 12 June.

The investigation remains ongoing and police are expecting to make further arrests.
