Armed Crime Squad detectives have this morning arrested four males following a home invasion and non-fatal shooting in Gladstone Park in July.
With the assistance of Queensland Police Service, a 17-year-old Mill Park boy was taken into custody at a Bundaberg address around 7am.
Investigators will now apply for his extradition.
With the assistance of Queensland Police Service and the VIPER Taskforce, five search warrants were then executed at residential premises in Bundaberg, Mill Park, Meadow Heights and Tarneit (2).
A further three males were arrested, including:
• A 16-year-old Meadow Heights boy,
• A 21-year-old Tarneit man and
• An 18-year-old Tarneit man.
They will now be interviewed in relation to the incident.
This morning's activity follows an incident where emergency services were called to Trentham Drive to reports five males had broken into a house and assaulted the two occupants about 1.25am on Thursday, 24 July.
Police will allege a 60-year-old man inside the house was confronted by the group of males before he was shot in the arm and assaulted with a variety of weapons.
He sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to hospital.
A 57-year-old woman also inside the premises was threatened with the firearm but not physically injured during the incident.
Investigators believe the incident was targeted.
Anyone with information on illicit firearm activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
Quotes attributable to Detective Inspector Adam Tilley, Armed Crime Squad:
"This was a particularly concerning incident and the emotion and physical trauma sustained by the victims would be immense. Bringing those involved before the courts was a high priority for the Armed Crime Squad.
"I know this shooting caused significant community concern, as is often the case when we see incidents of violence such as this.
"While we do believe this incident was targeted, I want to assure the community that police will do absolutely everything in our power to hold those involved in this kind of violence to account, and to remove illicit firearms from the streets. This criminality will not be tolerated."
