Police arrest man after attempted armed robbery at Box Hill bank

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following an attempted armed robbery that occurred in Box Hill last month.

A male entered a bank on Main Street and produced a note demanding cash before threatening staff about 4pm Thursday, 10 December.

Staff activated security screens and the man fled on foot, leaving a package inside the bank.

Safety checks were conducted by the Bomb Response Unit and the area was deemed safe.

After extensive investigations, police executed search warrants at addresses in Warragul on 19 January and arrested a 28-year-old Warragul man.

He was subsequently charged with attempted armed robbery and will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
