Police arrest man after Bourke Street armed robbery

Police responded to a report of an alleged armed robbery in Melbourne this morning (29 November).

Investigators have been told a 47-year-old New South Wales man was walking down Bourke Street when he was approached by an unknown male with scissors about 7.20am.

The man demanded the victim's watch and he complied.

The man then fled on foot with the watch but was arrested a short time later.

A 20-year-old man is in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.

He is expected to be charged with armed robbery related offences.

The victim did not suffer any injuries.
