Police arrest man after breaching border in south-east, South Australia

A man has been arrested after breaching the border at Glenburnie yesterday.

Just after 10.30am on Thursday 11 November, police received reports of a man walking through a forest area adjacent the Princes Highway a short distance from the border. Patrols attended the location and conducted a search with the man being found a short time later after attempting to conceal himself by wearing camouflage clothing. At the time of his apprehension, the man was about one kilometre inside the South Australian border.

The 36-year-old of no fixed address, was charged with failing to comply with a direction. He was refused bail and will appear in the Mt Gambier Magistrates Court via video link today.

The accused underwent a COVID test yesterday and returned a negative result.
