Police arrest man after death of woman in Woonona

A man has been arrested after a woman was found dead at a Woonona home last night.

About 11pm (Monday 19 February 2019), emergency services were called to a home on Grey Street, Woonona, after reports a woman had been injured.

Officers from Wollongong Police District and NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived to locate an unresponsive 76-year-old woman, who was unable to be revived.

A crime scene has been established and Wollongong detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

Two men, aged 55 and 24, accompanied police to Wollongong Police Station.

Following inquiries, about 11.10am today (Tuesday 19 February 2019), the 55-year-old man was arrested at Wollongong Police Station, where he remains assisting with police inquiries.
