Police arrest man after escaping from correctional facility at Bathurst

Police have arrested an inmate who escaped from a correctional facility at Bathurst earlier today.

A 61-year-old man was reported missing from the facility on Mid-Western Highway, Bathurst, about 12pm today (Tuesday 1 June 2021).

Police have been told he was last seen shortly after 11am.

Officers from Chifley Police District made a search of the area and conducted inquiries to locate the man, who was last seen wearing prison greens.

Following a public appeal, the man was arrested outside the gates to the correctional facility about 4.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday 1 June 2021).

Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.

It is expected charges will be laid.
