Police arrest man after handbag snatch, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a robbery at Paradise.

Just after 2.30pm on Tuesday 11 May, patrols were called to park on Walker Avenue after a woman had her handbag stolen by a man who then fled in a stolen Toyota sedan. The woman tried to grab her bag but the man drove off causing the woman to fall to the ground injuring her head.

Patrols converged on the area and PolAir began searching for the vehicle, spotting it on Hill Street at Campbelltown. PolAir followed the vehicle as it drove through a number of side streets before the driver and sole occupant, abandoned it on Campbell Road and ran off after hitting a Subaru SUV. PolAir continue to observe the driver until patrols located and arrested him in the rear yard of a unit block on Newton Road.

The 19-year-old from no fixed address is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery and illegal use. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The driver and occupants of the Subaru was not physically injured. The Yaris was stolen from a Parafield Gardens address on 6 May.
