Police arrest man after hit-run, South Australia

A man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a crash and attempting to steal items from a fast food outlet this afternoon in the western suburbs.

Just before 12.30pm on Thursday 5 March police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Hanson Road and Ridley Grove at Woodville Gardens after reports of a three car crash.

The driver of one of the vehicles left the scene prior to police attendance. Ambulance crews conveyed the driver of a second vehicle to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police were conducting enquiries into the driver of the vehicle when about 1.45pm Western District patrols were called to a fast food outlet on Commercial Road at Port Adelaide regarding a disturbance.

On arrival patrols were directed to a man who allegedly entered a staff only area of the store and attempted to steal food.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man from Dudley Park was arrested at the scene. Further enquiries revealed the silver Mitsubishi Pajero involved in the earlier crash was parked in the car park. CCTV footage shows the suspect driving the car into the car park.

He was charged with serious criminal trespass, theft and driving offences. He is expected to be bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
