A man has been arrested after a pursuit and crash in Sydney's west this morning.
Officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command were on Hopman Crescent, Shalvey, about 9.15am (Wednesday 9 April 2025), when they attempted to stop the driver of an SUV for a random breath test.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated near Jersey Road a short time later due to safety concerns; however, the vehicle continued to be monitored by PolAir.
About 20 minutes later – when the SUV was caught in traffic at the intersection of the Great Western Highway near Carlisle Avenue, Minchinbury – the driver allegedly hit a civilian vehicle and an unmarked police vehicle.
The alleged driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old Parkes man, was arrested after a Taser and OC was deployed.
He has been taken to Mt Druitt Hospital to be checked as a precaution.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident continues.
There were no injuries to the occupant of the civilian vehicle.
