Police arrest man after series of deception in north east

Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a 45-year-old Mount Waverley man in relation to a series of deceptions from February to August.

Investigators allege the man had been posing as a tradesman and responding to online advertisements, before accepting payment of a deposit and not completing work.

The man was allegedly using the false name 'Simon Andrews' while also using the name of a legitimate business which is not believed to be involved in any of the incidents.

It is understood the incidents occurred across Eaglemont, Bentleigh, Wheelers Hill, Burwood, Glen Waverly, Clarinda, Wantirna South and Knoxfield.

The man is currently in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.
