Police arrest man after stabbing at Shellharbour

A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed in the Illawarra region today.

Just before 1.30pm (Thursday 23 May 2019), emergency services were called to a business on Shellharbour Road at Barrack Heights, after reports a man had been injured.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and found a man suffering a stab wound to his arm and leg.

Police have been told, the 26-year old man was injured when he attempted to break up an altercation involving two men.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to Shellharbour Hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Following inquiries, officers attended a home on Roycroft Avenue at Mount Warrigal and arrested a 36-year-old man.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he remains in custody.

It's believed the men are all known to each other.
