Police Arrest Man After Stabbing - Marrickville

A man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing in Sydney's Inner West early this morning.

Just before 1am today (Thursday 23 October 2025), emergency services were called to Addison Road, Marrickville, following reports of a person stabbed on a bus.

On arrival, officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command were told a passenger –a 51-year-old man – had allegedly been stabbed in the face, arm and hand by another man, who exited the bus and left the scene.

The two men are not believed to be known to each other.

The 51-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Farnworth.

Following extensive inquiries, a 54-year-old man was arrested on Illawarra Road, Marrickville, and taken to Newtown Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
