Police arrest man after threatening taxi driver with knife in Melton

Police have arrested a man after a taxi driver was threatened with a knife in Melton this morning.

Investigators have been told the driver picked up a male passenger on Church Street about 6.30am on Monday, 9 May.

The man allegedly produced a knife and threatened the driver if he didn't take the man to Hampton Park.

The man got out of the taxi in Oaktree Drive and the taxi driver quickly called police.

A 22-year-old Melton man was arrested nearby a short time later and police seized a knife.

He is currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.
