Police Arrest Man After Unit Fire- Carramar

A man is in police custody, after a unit block was damaged by fire in Sydney's south west overnight.

Just after 11.45pm yesterday (Sunday 16 August 2026), emergency services were called to River Avenue, Carramar, following reports of a unit fire.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended the scene and located a unit block well alight before they assisted the surrounding occupants to evacuate.

Fire and Rescue NSW arrived and extinguished the blaze.

There were no injuries reported due to the incident.

A crime scene has been established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 1am today (Monday 17 August 2026), police arrested a 38-year-old man on Crossman Lane, Carramar.

He was taken to Cabramatta Police Station where inquiries are continuing.
