Police arrest man and woman in stolen car, South Australia

A man and a woman have been arrested after a short pursuit this morning and theft of petrol in a stolen car through the western suburbs.

About 8.20am on Saturday 11 April, Western District patrols spotted a stolen white Holden Captiva being driven on Tapleys Hill Road at Seaton. The patrol attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop and the pursuit was terminated a short time later. The vehicle was last seen heading north on Frederick Road.

At midday patrols noticed the stolen Captiva at a petrol station on Tapleys Hill Road at Fulham Gardens. As patrols were approaching the service station the car took off, with the occupants failing to pay for petrol.

Police followed the vehicle east on Henley Beach Road but the vehicle took off from patrols.

Approximately half an hour later patrols sighted the vehicle travelling north on Commercial Road at Port Adelaide. The vehicle evaded police however the car and the two occupants were located minutes later in the driveway of a business premises on St Vincent Street, Port Adelaide.

The Captiva was stolen on the Tuesday 7 April from a Waterloo Corner address.

Police searched the vehicle and located property that was stolen from a car parked in a driveway at a home in Redwood Park this morning.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from Davoren Park and the passenger a 29-year-old woman from Munno Para West were both arrested and charged with illegal use.

The driver will be further charged with driving dangerously to escape a police pursuit, unlawful possession and driving without a licence. The man has been refused bail to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday 14 April. The woman was granted bail to appear in court at a later date.
