Police arrest man for fighting in public, South Australia

One man has been arrested and another man is in hospital after a fight on North Terrace overnight.

Police were called to North Terrace, outside Roma Mitchell House, about 11.50pm on Thursday 21 November by reports two men were fighting.

Officers arrived to find one man unconscious with security and members of the public administering CPR.

Witnesses reported the two men, who did not appear to know each other, had exchanged words before punches were thrown.

The 23-year-old Burton man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital by ambulance and is now in a stable condition. He sustained fractures to his face however his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police will speak to him once his condition improves.

A 26-year-old Northfield man was arrested and charged with fighting in a public place. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 10 January and issued with a three month barring order.
