Police arrest man for stabbing - Alexandria

Police have arrested and charged a man following a stabbing in Alexandria on the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a hotel on Henderson Road just before 3pm (Saturday 15 June 2019), where they found an 82-year-old man with a knife wound to his chest.

It is alleged he was stabbed by another patron, a 61-year-old man, following a verbal altercation.

Immediately after the attack, the man allegedly responsible left the venue.

The injured man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition, where he underwent emergency surgery.

He is currently in a stable condition.

About 3.15pm yesterday (Sunday 16 June 2019), police attended a residence at Kembla Street, Wollongong and arrested the 61-year-old.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Bail was refused to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Monday 17 June 2019).
