Police arrest teen over stolen scooter - West Lakes, South Australia

A 15-year-old boy will face court after he was found riding a stolen motorised scooter at West Lakes.

Just after 6pm on Wednesday 13 March, police patrols were called to Turner Drive after a youth crashed a scooter as was he riding through a drive-thru restaurant.

A member of the public thought the incident was suspicious and advised police of the registration number. Checks revealed the scooter had in face been stolen from West Lakes earlier in the day.

As a patrol arrived, the youth dumped the scooter and walked off quickly along West Lakes Boulevard.

The youth was stopped but he refused to provide his name and address, so he subsequently arrested and handcuffed, after he commenced to struggle and resist the patrol.

The 15-year-old boy from Seaton was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, ride unlicensed, refuse name and address, plus resisting and hindering police.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The 100cc Piaggio motor scooter was returned to the owner.
