Police arrest three after CBD and public transport offences

Two men and a woman have been arrested following a joint operation by Transit Divisional Response Unit and Melbourne Tasking Unit police focusing on highly organised theft.

Operation Galeforce commenced in December and concentrated on offences committed in the CBD and the public transport network.

Transit detectives executed a warrant at a residence in Albion about 10pm last night, where the trio was arrested.

A large quantity of cash and stolen items were also recovered during the warrant.

A 38-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, both from Sri Lanka, and a 25-year-old man from India were all arrested and charged with theft offences and proceeds of crime.

They have each been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 April.
