Police arrest three after pursuit, officer injured – north-west Sydney

Three teens have been arrested after a pursuit through Sydney’s north-west overnight.

About 9.45pm (Wednesday 15 April 2020), an off-duty police officer saw a Toyota Camry travelling on Griffith Street, Blacktown which he recognised as being stolen from Pendle Hill on Saturday 11 April 2020. The vehicle had also been involved in a pursuit with police on Tuesday 14 April 2020.

Police from Operation Talon attended a short time later and found the car parked in Griffith Street.

As one of the officers approached the vehicle, the driver started the car and accelerated away, knocking the senior constable to the ground.

A pursuit was initiated, involving police attached to Blacktown and Cumberland Police Area Commands and the Aviation Support Unit. When the driver allegedly attempted to ram several police cars the pursuit was terminated.

Polair continued to follow the car to the end of Endeavour Street, Seven Hills, where the four occupants abandoned the vehicle and ran into parkland.

A perimeter was established and, with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, three people were arrested.

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, and an 18-year-old man, have been taken to Blacktown Police Station.

The car has been seized for forensic examination.

The injured officer was taken to Blacktown Hospital suffering injuries to his forearm and grazes. He remains in a stable condition.
