Detectives from the Homicide Squad yesterday arrested a man and a woman following the death of a Sebastopol child earlier this month.
A 26-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were interviewed by detectives on Thursday afternoon.
The duo has since been released pending further enquiries.
Police have been told the one-year-old boy became unresponsive about 12pm on Tuesday, 4 November while at home and was taken to hospital by his mother and her partner.
Sadly, the child passed away in a Melbourne hospital on 6 November.
The exact circumstances leading up to the child's death are still being determined.
The investigation remains ongoing.
