Police arrest two after Deer Park burglary and fire

Two men have been arrested following a burglary and suspicious fire in Deer Park last night.

A vigilant neighbour noticed suspicious behaviour at a Byrne Street address about 9.15pm and called 000.

Police quickly arrived and located the house on fire.

Neighbours approached the attending police and reported two men allegedly seen stealing a TV from the address.

A description was put out to police in the area and some patrolling officers came across two men nearby who were promptly arrested.

The pair, a 23-year-old from Melton West and 21-year-old from Melton, are both expected to be charged this morning with burglary, theft and criminal damage by fire and will front Sunshine Magistrates' Court.

The house sustained significant damage due to the fire.

Police have recovered all stolen property.
