Police arrest two after fatal stabbing - Whalan

Two men have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the fatal stabbing of a man in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 7.30pm (Wednesday 22 December 2021), emergency services were called to a reserve at Catlin Close, Whalan, following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located three men – aged 40, 25 and 19 – suffering stab wounds.

The 40-year-old man died at the scene and the other two men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

The younger man remains in a serious but stable condition and the older man remains in a stable condition.

All three men were known to each other.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and a search of the surrounding area was conducted, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.

Detectives attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command and the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident under Strike Force Jaceva.

Following inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested at Granville Police Station just after 11am today (Thursday 23 December 2021).

A second man – aged 19 – was arrested at Mt Druitt Police Station about 1.30pm today. Both men are expected to be charged.
