A police officer has been injured and two men are in custody following a pursuit in Sydney's Inner West overnight.
Just after 2am today (Saturday 17 January 2026), police were called to a home on Crystal Street, Petersham, following reports of a home invasion.
When officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command attended the scene and began to establish a perimeter, a white van allegedly struck an officer – a male sergeant – before driving away from the scene.
The officer was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
A short time later, police located the white van on Trafalgar Street, Petersham.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated and extra resources from Burwood Police Area Command, the Dog Unit and PolAir were called to assist.
The pursuit continued through multiple suburbs in Sydney's Inner West area before the vehicle stopped at a park on Mitchell Street, Croydon Park.
Two men – aged 41 and 38 – were arrested at the scene.
They have been taken to Burwood Police Station where inquiries continue.
