Police arrest two after spate of theft from cars in Maribyrnong area

Police have arrested two teens after a spate of theft from vehicles across the Maribyrnong Police Service Area (PSA) overnight.

Local police allege 18 vehicles were broken into across the Maidstone and Braybrook areas between 9.15pm and 5am.

It's alleged the offenders used a breaker tool to smash through each window and gain access to the vehicle.

Police were out patrolling when they observed a male acting suspiciously next to a vehicle on Myrtle Drive, Maribyrnong about 5am.

The boy was arrested, before another boy was located nearby and arrested.

The 17-year-old Braybrook boys have been charged with a number of offences including theft from motor vehicle and obtain property by deception.

Both teens will be presented to a children's court this afternoon.
