Two men were arrested after police allegedly found breaking implements in their car during a traffic stop at Hawthorn overnight.
Police stopped a white Ford sedan on Hampton Street, Hawthorn about 3.15am on Sunday 8 February.
The vehicle was displaying altered registration plates and was unregistered and uninsured. Checks revealed the driver, a 51-year-old Riverland man, was also unlicensed.
A further examination of the vehicle allegedly uncovered tools commonly used for breaking into premises and for stealing copper.
The driver and passenger, a 42-year-old Mitchell Park man, were both arrested and charged with possess housebreaking implement. The driver was also charged with numerous traffic offences including driving unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed and with unassigned plates.
They were bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 2 April.
