Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged a woman following a series of alleged online puppy scams this year.
The alleged deceptions occurred on 17 May, 21 May, and three times on 5 June.
It is alleged the woman advertised puppies for sale online and asked five victims to make a substantial deposit payment for a puppy.
Once the victims paid a deposit the woman allegedly ceased all contact, leaving the victims without a puppy or their money back.
Detectives executed a search warrant at a Thornhill Park address on 20 July.
A 29-year-old woman was arrested and subsequently interviewed by police.
Detectives have since charged the woman with five counts of obtain property by deception and breaching a court order.
She was bailed to appear before Sunshine Magistrates' Court on 6 April 2021.
