A stolen car drove into a police car at Northfield overnight.
Just after 3am on Wednesday 18 March, a patrol spotted two vehicles in a car park at a reserve, off Grand Junction Road, Northfield and attempted to pull into the car park.
As the police car drove into the narrow entry of the car park, a white SUV and white Ford hatch both accelerated towards the exit. The SUV managed to drive over the kerb and drive off, however the Ford hatch sideswiped the patrol car and then rolled onto its roof.
The driver of the Ford ran off.
Police searched the area with the assistance of Police Dog Duke but he has not yet been located.
The police officers sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
The Ford hatch had been reported stolen from a Trinity Gardens address in the early hours of Tuesday and was involved in a petrol drive-off at Evanston Park overnight.
It was towed away for forensic examination.
The police car was also towed from the scene.
Investigations are continuing to identify and locate the driver.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
