Police Charge Driver After Pursuit - Pendle Hill

A man will face court following a pursuit and crash in Sydney's west overnight.

Just after 2.10am today (Monday 1 June 2026), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were patrolling on Dunmore Street, near Pendle Way, Pendle Hill, when they located a grey sedan being driven suspiciously.

When the vehicle failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the vehicle crashed into the barrier on M4 Western Motorway near Coleman Street, Merrylands and the pursuit was terminated.

A passenger – a 29-year-old woman – was taken to Westmead Hospital for an assessment.

The driver – a 60-year-old man – was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 1 June 2026).
