Police charge four after Benalla pursuit

Police have charged four people following a pursuit in Benalla this afternoon (19 August).

Police were called to a burglary at an address on Phillipson Street, Wangaratta about 2.10pm.

A black Volkswagen Golf Sedan was seen leaving the property before police arrival.

Various attempts were made to intercept the vehicle through Wangaratta.

The Volkswagen Sedan collided with a police vehicle on Bridge Street, Benalla shortly before 3pm.

No one was injured during the collision and two men and two women were taken into custody.

A 16-year-old and 19-year-old, both males from Wangaratta, have been charged with burglary and theft of motor vehicle.

They have both been bailed to appear in court at a later date.

A 21-year-old Myrtleford woman and 24-year-old Baranduda man have been charged with burglary and theft of motor vehicle.

They have both been remanded to appear in Benalla Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
