Three teenagers and man have been charged following an alleged pursuit in a stolen vehicle near Cessnock last night.
About 10.40pm yesterday (Monday 8 September 2025), police stopped a vehicle for an RBT on Cessnock Road, Neath.
The driver briefly stopped before allegedly driving from the scene, and a pursuit was commenced.
Subsequent inquiries revealed that the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from Cessnock a short time earlier.
The pursuit continued to Cessnock where the occupants stopped and fled on foot.
Three boys – aged 15, 16 and 17 – and a 24-year-old man, were arrested nearby and taken to Cessnock Police Station.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, and police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously. He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Tuesday 9 September 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Tuesday 16 September 2025.
The 15-year-old passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Tuesday 23 September 2025.
The 24-year-old passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Cessnock Local Court at a later date.
The 16-year-old boy was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
