Police Charge Man After Affray In St Kilda

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged affray in St Kilda this morning.

It is believed a person driving a silver Audi sedan south/west on Fitzroy Street was allegedly approached by a man, about 12.30am.

Police allege the man attempted to open the driver's door while in possession of a knife before the victim drove away.

Investigators are yet to identify the victim.

It is alleged the man approached a second car on Fitzroy Street and had an altercation with the vehicle occupants before they drove away.

No was injured during this incident.

A 34-year-old St Kilda East man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with affray. He will be directly presented to Melbourne Magistrates' Court today for a remand hearing.

Enquiries are ongoing for the alleged attempted carjacking.
