A man has been charged following an alleged arson in Sydney's Inner West earlier this year.
About 3.30am on Saturday 7 February 2026, emergency services were called to a barber shop on Marrickville Road near Durham Street, Dulwich Hill, following reports of a fire.
Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command attended and found the shop well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.
There were no reports of injuries.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Following extensive inquiries, about 12.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 May 2026), police executed a search warrant at a home on Riverside Crescent, Marrickville, where a 43-year-old man was arrested.
During the search, officers allegedly located and seized two gel-blaster firearms and a replica firearm.
The man was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire or explosion more than $15000, and three counts of possess unregistered firearm not pistol or prohibited firearm.
He was refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division – Court 6 today (Wednesday 13 May 2026).
