Police Charge Man After Bendigo Rape On Bus

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged incident on a bus in Bendigo last week.

It is alleged a man got onto a Route 5 bus just after it had left Bendigo Railway Station about 6.20pm on Saturday, 14 February.

He allegedly sat next to a female victim and sexually assaulted her on the bus, which was travelling towards Kangaroo Flat, before she moved away.

The man allegedly continued to perform a lewd act on the bus.

The 33-year-old Epsom man was arrested in Epsom on 16 February.

He was interviewed by detectives and has been charged with rape.

He was remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court on 13 May.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
