Police Charge Man After Boat Fire - Taren Point

A man has been charged following a suspicious boat fire in Sydney's south.

On Saturday, 19 April 2025, officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command commenced an investigation following a fire at a marina in Mangrove Lane, Taren Point.

Police were told two men had entered a marina and boarded a commercial vessel which caught fire a short time later, about 2am on Saturday 19 April 2025.

Following investigations by officers attached to Strike Force FIERASFER, a search warrant was executed at an address on Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove.

A 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Gladesville Police Station.

He was charged with dishonestly for gain damage property by fire/explosive, and destroy property in company use fire value greater than $5,000.

He will appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 10 July 2025.
