Police Charge Man After Break-in At Tamworth

A man has been remanded in custody by Tamworth Local Court today, charged after a woman was allegedly assaulted in her home at the weekend.

Police will allege a man entered a home on Anthony Road, Tamworth, about 9.40pm on Sunday (25 May 2025), and woke a woman asleep in her loungeroom before he allegedly assaulted her.

The 21-year-old woman was able to escape the home with her one-year-old daughter to a neighbouring house and alert police.

A short time later, the man was himself assaulted.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District responding to the call for assistance found the man in the street outside the home suffering a laceration and arm injuries. He was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Tamworth Hospital.

About 11.30am yesterday (Tuesday 27 May 2025), the 37-year-old man was arrested on discharge from hospital and taken to Tamworth Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent use violence.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 28 May 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 30 July 2025.
