Police Charge Man After Carjacking In Glen Huntly

Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man following an alleged carjacking in Glen Huntly this morning.

It is alleged the man approached the victim, who was sitting inside his vehicle, at the corner of Glen Huntly and Grange Roads about 11.50am.

The man allegedly forced the victim out of the vehicle, fleeing in the car and subsequently clipping the victim, a pole and a parked car.

The victim, a 31-year-old from Murrumbeena, sustained a minor injury.

Police units converged on the area and located the stolen vehicle, removing the offender from the car.

The man allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer, causing a minor injury.

The 29-year-old Carnegie man was taken into custody and interviewed by investigators.

He was charged with:

• Carjacking

• Dangerous driving

• Fail to stop after accident (x2)

• Resist emergency worker

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrate's Court today.
