Police charge man after Chipping Norton pursuit

A man has been charged after a police pursuit in Sydney's south west yesterday.

About 8.50am Tuesday (12 May 2020), officers from Liverpool Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting speed checks on Franklin Road, Chipping Norton, when they observed a KTM motorcycle travelling in excess speed of the posted 50km/h speed limit

The rider was directed to stop; however, police will allege he drove away along Franklin Road and a pursuit was initiated.

Police will allege the motorcycle reached speeds of up to 99km/h in a signposted 50km/h zone.

The motorcycle was followed to Moorebank where the pursuit was terminated due to the manner of driving. With assistance of the Aviation Command to provide observations of the motorcycle, the rider stopped nearby at an address at Moorebank where he got into another vehicle before being stopped by police.

The alleged rider, a 44-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The man has been charged with police pursuit – drive manner/speed dangerous speed over 45km/h, use unregistered/uninsured vehicle and unlicensed rider. He will appear before Liverpool Local Court on 27 July
