A man has been charged after a crash in the state's north in August 2025.
About 10am (Wednesday 27 August 2025), emergency services were called to Wingham Road at Wingham following reports of a crash.
At the scene, police were told four vehicles were involved in the crash, including three cars and a truck.
A 72-year-old male driver of a Kia Sportage was taken to Taree Airport where he was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
A 22-year-old male driver of a Holden Commodore was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and to undergo mandatory testing.
A 36-year-old male driver of the truck was taken to Manning Base Hospital for the treatment of shock and further assessment.
The fourth driver, a 62-year-old man, did not report any injuries to police.
Officers attached to Manning/Great Lakes Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, about 1pm yesterday (Tuesday 20 January 2026) a 22-year-old man was charged by officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Taree Local Court on Tuesday 24 March 2026.
His driver's licence has been suspended.
