Police charge man after cyclist hit and seriously injured at Orange

A man will face court next month after a crash in the state's central west yesterday.

About 7.35am on Sunday (12 September 2021), emergency services were called to Mitchell Highway, Orange, after reports a cyclist had been hit by a white Toyota Hilux.

Officers from Central West Police district and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The cyclist, a 68-year-old female suffered serious injuries to her elbow and spine after being thrown from the bike.

The driver a 24-year-old man stopped to render assistance.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Orange Base Hospital in a serious condition.

The man attended Orange Police Station later that day and was charged with dangerous driving cause grievous bodily harm and negligent driving cause grievous bodily harm.

He was given a conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on the 18 October 2021.
