Police have charged a man following an extended follow which ended in Malvern overnight.
Officers first spotted a white Audi wagon bearing allegedly false plates travelling on Monash Freeway 1.30am.
With the assistance of the Air Wing, uniform and PORT, officers followed the wagon through Malvern towards Carnegie.
The Air Wing spotted the wagon coming to a stop on Soudan Street a short time later.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 38-year-old man, along with his dog, was swiftly arrested at the scene by officers from Operation Trinity.
Police will allege the vehicle also contained numerous stolen license plates, as well as an amount of drugs.
The Hastings man has been charged with dangerous driving while pursued by police, handle stolen goods, possess a drug of dependence, unlicensed driving and drug driving.
He will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
