Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash At Port Macquarie

A man had been charged after a fatal crash in the state's Mid North Coast over the weekend.

About 9.15pm on Saturday (6 September 2025), emergency services were called to Oxley Highway, Port Macquarie, following reports a Toyota utility and a Holden hatchback had crashed head on.

The hatchback driver - a 31-year-old man - was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

The front passenger of the hatchback – a 30-year-old man – was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The utility driver – a 22-year-old man - was by treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in a stable condition and for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and investigations by the Crash Investigation Unit commenced.

Upon release from hospital today (Tuesday 9 September 2025), the 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and not keep left of centre two-way road-not class B/C vehicle.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 24 September 2025.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
