Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash - Taminda

A man will face court today charged following an investigation into a fatal crash in the state's northeast.

About 2am on Monday 10 March 2025, emergency services were called to Barnes Street, Taminda, about 5km west of Tamworth, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and found a Ford sedan had crashed into a power pole.

A passenger - an 18-year-old man – died at the scene.

The driver – a 26-year-old man – was treated for a serious leg injury and taken to Tamworth Hospital for mandatory testing.

Two other passengers – a second 18-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

Following inquiries, about 1.30pm on Wednesday 18 June 2025, the 26-year-old man attended Orange Police Station and was arrested.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive speed dangerous, dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

The man was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today Thursday 19 June 2025.
