Police Charge Man After Fire - Cabramatta

Police have charged a man following an investigation into a suspicious fire in Sydney's southwest.

Just after 7pm (Tuesday 5 March 2024), emergency services were called to a share home on Fairview Road, Cabramatta, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command arrived to find the front room of the share house well alight.

All residents were evacuated and there were no reports of injuries.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze; however, the room was extensively damaged.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

Following inquiries police arrested a 27-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire / explosion more than $15,000.

He was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 6 March 2024).
