Police charge man after fires in Cranbourne and Dandenong

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a series of fires and attempted fires in the Cranbourne and Dandenong areas this month.

The alleged incidents occurred on 17 December on Thompsons Road, Cranbourne; 28 December at the corner of Foster Street and McCrae Street, Dandenong; and 28 December in the Cranbourne area.

Following an investigation by Casey and Dandenong CIU detectives, warrants were yesterday executed at an address on Forest Oak Drive, Cranbourne, with a 41-year-old man arrested.

He has been charged with five counts of criminal damage by fire (arson).

The man appeared at court today and has been further remanded to reappear at Dandenong Magistrates' Court on 21 January.
