Police charge man after hit and run death at Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged in relation to an alleged hit and run in the state's south west that resulted in a man's death last month.

Shortly after 10pm on Saturday 26 October (2019), police were called to Red Hill Road at Glenfield Park after the body of a 51-year-old man was found by a passing motorist.

Police believe the man had attended a function earlier in the day and had been seen walking along Red Hill Road shortly before being struck by an unknown vehicle which did not stop.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended and established a crime scene, before commencing an investigation in conjunction with the Crash Investigation Unit.

Yesterday (Monday 4 November 2019), following extensive inquiries, a 57-year-old Wagga Wagga man was issued a future court attendance notice for failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.

He is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court on 18 December 2019.
