Police Charge Man After Hit And Run - Kirrawee

A man will face court charged following a crash involving an e-bike at Kirrawee last weekend in which two boys were injured.

Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway about 9.40pm on Saturday 26 July 2025 after reports of a crash involving a silver Toyota Echo and an e-bike being ridden by a 16-year-old boy with a 15-year-old pillion passenger.

The teens were thrown onto the verge by the impact from behind; however, the car was allegedly driven from the scene without stopping.

The older boy suffered a fractured right leg and head injuries and was taken to St George Hospital, while the other boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital.

Acting on information, the vehicle was found abandoned in Argyle Place, Kareela, a short time later.

The vehicle was seized by police for forensic examination and an investigation by officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) commenced.

About 10.30pm on Monday 28 July 2025, police arrested a 26-year-old man at a home in Lakemba.

He was taken tot Campsie Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving and fail to stop and assist after crash impact causing grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear before Bankstown Local Court Today (Tuesday 29 July 2025).
