Police Charge Man After Online Threats At Newcastle

A man has been charged following an investigation into alleged threatening messages sent online.

On Friday 6 June 2025, officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District were told a 23-year-old man had allegedly received threatening messages via social media the previous day (Thursday 5 June 2025).

Lake Macquarie Detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 2.30pm on Friday 13 June 2025, police arrested a 20-year-old man after he attended Belmont Police Station.

He was charged with use carriage service to menace/harass/offend, and granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 30 July 2025.
